Cannula Take 3

Today has been a big day for our little man! Drake's morning blood gas was good and he has been moved from CPAP to cannula. This is his 3rd attempt & we hope this time is the charm...only time will tell. He wasn't sure what he thought about it at first, but he seems to have settled in now. He is on a flow of 2L and 30% oxygen. He also moved into a new nursery within the NICU. All of his neighbors from B were transferred to Special Care like Kennedy, so he was the only baby left in Nursery B. His new nursery is Nursery F, and both he and I like our new room.

Kennedy is doing good in Special Care. Her occupational therapist came to see her this morning and she did great with her bottle. She has had a couple Brady's (heart rate drops) today and they are considering placing her back on the nasal cannula. We'll see how she does during the night and if she has to go back on cannula, that will be ok.

I'm doing my best learning how to manage my time between the NICU and Special Care. I've never wished I could be in two places at once until now. This is not an ideal situation, but none of this has been so we make the best of what we have. That reminds me of what Brian said at the hospital after the doctor told us the babies would have a better chance of surviving if they delivered. I was laying on my back and tears were streaming down the sides of my face. He held my hand and told me, "This is the hand we've been dealt. We just have to keep the faith and we will make it through."
