MRI miss my baby

Drake went this afternoon for his MRI on his knee. Even though he was only gone about an hour and a half, it felt like an eternity. Being in the nursery, holding Kennedy, and having his isolette empty was a strange feeling. Watching him roll way in the same incubator gurney that he was care-flighted in brought back a flood of memories from the day they were born. When he returned, I was given an outstanding report of how well he did, and to top things off...rather than going straight back to the isolette, we got to have our kangaroo time! The doctor came in shortly after to give me the report from the MRI. Everything looks really good. It seems to just be fluid under the skin that is not in the muscle, joint or bone. Therefore, it should heal on its own in time. This is wonderful news!

Drake had a really good day and was very low on his oxygen support. His feeds were increased to 25cc every 3 hours and he is doing great with them! They did an echocardiogram this morning to check his PDA because he has a noticeable murmur. The valve is open more than it was before he got sick, but for right now it is not causing him problems. They are going to continue to monitor is closely and hopefully it will close on its own. If not, they would rather do a less invasive surgery to fix it later on when he is one, two or even three years old.

Kennedy is still doing really well. She and I had a great time kamgarooing today. I think it was a good thing that I was busy holding her when the transport team came in to move Drake for the MRI. My parents and my brother and sister were here too. When the nurse put Kennedy back in the isolette Poppy got to hold her up so the nurse could change her bedding, and then Gran got to change her diaper. It was a fun day of new experiences for all.
